Chandra Grahan Sutak

Please note that in Hinduism, Chandra Grahan is considered even if the Moon is not visible due to cloudy weather. Chandra Grahan Sutak is observed for 9 hours before Lunar Eclipse or Chandra Grahan.

All type of religious activities and intake of any kind of food items – solid or liquid are prohibited during Chandra Grahan Sutak and the period of Lunar Eclipse. One should not eat during nine hours before the Lunar Eclipse and until the Lunar Eclipse is over.

Once the eclipse is over one should take bath and offer prayers to gods, it is considered highly auspicious. After Chandra Grahan only freshly cooked food are to be eaten. Any cooked food before the Lunar Eclipse should be avoided.
